This residential project is a compelling exercise in Contemporary Vernacular architecture, harmonizing traditional tropical forms with a refined modern sensibility. The structure’s silhouette is defined by a series of cascading, multi-tiered hip and gable roofs, featuring deep overhangs and terracotta tiling that provide essential passive cooling and rain protection—a direct response to the regional climate.
The material palette is a sophisticated blend of textures, utilizing exposed brick masonry, natural stone cladding, and warm timber joinery against a crisp white envelope. A standout feature is the integration of terracotta jaali screens, which provide geometric interest while facilitating natural ventilation and a rhythmic play of light and shadow across the facade. The fenestration is thoughtfully articulated, with large wooden-framed windows and a prominent corner glazing detail that lightens the visual mass of the primary volume.
